Important Swim Team Information
May 13th
Good evening, 2026 Shark Families!
Just a reminder that Meet the Coaches Night is this Friday, May 15th, at 6 pm in the Mounts Bay Rec Center. We will have free face painting and will be auctioning off two front row parking spaces for all home meets!!
We understand if you can't make it, but we highly encourage new families to attend!
In case you can't make it, here are the important points you should know for the 2026 KM Sharks swim team season!
- Our Kingsmill Sharks website is loaded with all the important information and links, and you should refer to the website often for:
- practice schedules (which switch to morning mid-June)
- meet schedules
- social events
- directions to away meets (under "information" then "links" tab.
- Coaches' emails for private lessons (under "our team" then "coaches")
- Committee Heads information and contact information (under "our team" then "key positions."
- Please declare your swimmers' attendance for each meet right now!!
- It is so important and simple!! All RSVPs for each meet are due the Friday before each Monday's Meet!! If you do not check YES, my swimmer is attending....then they CANNOT swim in the meet on Monday!!! And if you forget to declare your swimmer's attendance and they can't swim, but you were signed up to work that meet, you still have to show up to work for the meet or risk getting fined $50.00 for not showing up for your job. I want to be very transparent.
- You can RSVP and declare your swimmer's attendance for all 6 meets plus time trials now by going to the schedule, clicking on each meet, selecting the Green "Meet Entry" button, and selecting each swimmer and the "attending this meet" selection. You can also download the Swim Topia App on your phone and do the same thing there!
- Volunteer Shift
- Please show up to your volunteer shifts that you chose at registration. We are ALL volunteers. If you don't show up, someone else has to do your job. If you cannot show up to your volunteer position, it is your responsibility to find someone to cover your shift. Our policy states that if a volunteer misses their shift, they will be subject to a $50.00 fine. Please contact Sarah Moffit, Email: [email protected]Phone: (646) 229-9060, if you have issues, emergencies, or communicate any shift changes/coverages. You can find all of this information on the website, under "our teams" and "Key positions".
- The heads of all committees will reach out to all volunteers with information and guidance for your upcoming Monday Meet volunteer shifts, usually the Friday before the meet.
- At each meet, please find Sarah Moffit to sign in/ check in to your volunteer shifts for both 1st and 2nd shifts. She will be at the entrance of Mounts Bay pool at all home meets and the entrance of all away pools. Please look for her (her picture is on the website!)
- Rain Dates for Swim Meets:
- If a Monday meet is canceled due to inclement weather, it is automatically scheduled for the next day (Tuesday), same time, same place. Volunteer shifts stay the same. Swimmers' entries stay the same.
- Inclement Weather for practices:
- You will receive an email from Coach Caroline about canceled practices. Please check your emails. Swimmers will swim in the rain. Practice will be canceled due to thunder and lightning.
- Pool cards:
- All swimmers must have a pool card to enter the pool each day for practice. Please contact the KCSA office to get a pool card now for your swimmer!
- Swimmers 9 years old and younger must have a parent present at all times on the pool deck during practice per KCSA rules.
- All Little Shark parents must be on the pool deck, and if your swimmer is a non-swimmer, we request that you are on the pool's edge within arm's reach of your swimmer.
- How do I know what my swimmer is swimming on meet day?
- All heat sheets will be emailed on Meet Monday by noon! Coaches will write Event, Heat, and lane information on the hands of our younger swimmers with a Sharpie marker at morning practice if requested.
- Donuts will be served for all home meets!
- Meet Expectations:
- Please encourage good sportsman-like behavior to all swimmers.
- Do not play on the playground equipment at home meets or away meets (we don't want you to miss your event)
- Clean up your area at the conclusion of the meet.
- Bring several towels, chairs, sunscreen and bug spray to the meets
- Support all of the Team's concessions!! That's how we make extra money!!
- Awards:
- Scoring will be different this year!! Fastest heats will be last in the event, much like year-round. Only Swimmers placing 1st -6th overall in the event will receive a ribbon. Heat winners of each heat will receive a prize. No more exhibition heats or lanes; all swimmers are swimming to earn points for the team.
- Team Suits:
- Please purchase team suits on the website home page.
- Caps:
- Caps will be provided to all swimmers and will be free! More information coming soon.
- Towel orders during registration will be ready around mid-June, and an email will be sent out for pick-up arrangements at the pool.
Thanks for reading through this lengthy email!! We look forward to welcoming everyone on the pool deck soon! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at any time. Hope to see you all at Meet the Coaches Night!
Best,
Jenn Treiber
