Hello Shark Families!

I just wanted to send an e-mail thanking everyone for a wonderful 2025 KM Sharks swim team season! Our family was out of the country at the end of the season, so I wanted to take time to share some exciting news for the 2026 season!

First, I would like to introduce our new Kingsmill Sharks Head Coach, Caroline Thatcher!

Caroline Thatcher is a Kindergarten teacher at Hampton Roads Academy. She has loved competitive swimming since she was a child. She started swimming at the YMCA when she was six years old. She swam for the GPSA Wythe Wahoos and year-round team SEVA. Caroline also swam for Hampton Roads Academy for her four years in high school, and now she is back at HRA for her fifth year as the assistant coach to the Varsity swim team. She loves freestyle and breaststroke. Caroline is excited to share her love for swimming with all the Kingsmill Sharks. 

We are excited to Welcome Coach Caroline!

Secondly, 2026 will be my last season as President of the KM Sharks!  It has been an honor to serve the community and the swim team.  I am pleased to announce that Kyndell Hatjis and Amy Storck will be shadowing me this next summer as they step into the roles as the new Co-Presidents for a 3-year term!!!  Thank you, Kyndell and Amy! 

Lastly, Cheryl Conners with KWSC Events Team has reached out to me for an exclusive event for female athletes looking for recruitment advice.  Please see more information below regarding this event!

I would like to invite members of the KM Sharks (and their parents) to attend this October 6 presentation as my guests. We still have plenty of seating available, and I think it would be great to have young KM athletes in attendance. Do you agree that it would be worthwhile to hear what Coach Dickerson Davis has to say about the whole recruitment process? Of course, her expertise is in basketball, but much of that knowledge should transfer to other college sports.  Anyone interested in attending should send me an email (or call) with their names so that I can put them on my personal invite list. Program Begins: 7:00 pm

Meet Coach "E" as she heads into her fourth season at William & Mary following a monumental 2024-25 campaign that saw the Tribe win its first CAA title in basketball in school history!

Coach E will share how she became interested in basketball and coaching; what she looks for during the recruitment process; how she develops player skills; how she motivates her team; and obstacles she has faced as a female coach.

Because Coach E is an inspiration to women and young girls alike, we encourage you to invite the young women in your life who are interested in playing sports at the college level.

Guest seating is limited to young women athletes at this time.

Light refreshments will be served.

There is no charge for this event, but we do need an accurate count of attendees in order to have plenty of refreshments.
