Celebrating Coach Matt's final season with the KM Sharks
Good afternoon, Sharks,
I wanted to take a moment before the season ends to share the news that this will be Coach Matt's last season with the Kingsmill Sharks. On behalf of the swim team board, we would like to thank Coach Matt for his 11 years of dedication to the KM Sharks. Please see Coach Matt's letter below. As one door closes, another opens. We have found a new coach for the 2026 season and an introduction email will be sent out this fall. Thank you, Coach Matt.
Dear Jen and Shark families,
I would like to thank all of you for having me as Coach of the Sharks these past eleven seasons. It has been a privilege working with all of our athletes at every level of the Sharks program. From teaching the younger Sharks how to swim and better their technique to strategizing a big meet or important relay, to watching Seniors graduate our program and even return to help coach a new generation of Sharks, it has all been my pleasure!
The Kingsmill families have been incredibly kind, generous and supportive every summer and worked throughout the year to make every season a success. In my twenty years of VPSU coaching I have never had more fun than I have with the Sharks. I would love to be able coach another summer, but it is time for me to take on the role of swim parent and volunteer and support my daughter and family who have started competitive swimming this summer. I encourage all of you to continue with swimming and if you love it, consider trying one of the great club teams in the fall. I will not be far from the pool deck next summer and look forward to seeing all of you at big meets and VPSU Champs. I will remain a Shark at heart. Go Sharks!
Sincerely,
Coach Matt
