I thought I would spread some Kingsmill Shark Love and inform everyone of some news and upcoming events for the 2024 Kingsmill Shark Swim Team Season.

Here you will find many of our dates already listed for the 2024 season.  VPSU has provided me with tentative dates for the 2024 meets.  The meets are tentatively scheduled for Monday, June 17th, 24th, July 1st, 8th,15th, and 22nd.  Please note that Summer Awards are tentatively scheduled for July 27th and Champs on August 3rd.  Please plan vacations accordingly so that we may have a high number of swimmers participating in these events.  Once this schedule is finalized, it will be imported into our website calendar.

* Little Sharks Swim Program - Registration Opens April 1st!

The Kingsmill
Sharks Swim Team is excited to introduce the NEW “Little Sharks” Swim Program!  This is a great opportunity for young siblings whose older brother or sister are already on the swim team, or for that neighbor you know with small children!    

We are all
very excited to offer this new opportunity to all residents of Kingsmill who
have children between the ages of 3 and 6 years old. So many times we hear new families say they would love for their child to be on the
Kingsmill Sharks swim team, but they don’t know if their young child is “quite
ready” to be on the team and struggle with practice and meet commitment. 

That’s why we felt it was necessary to create
the “Little Sharks” Swim Program.
Parents can now feel at ease to know that when they register for the
Little Sharks, their child will be learning the fundamental strokes of swimming
by the coaching staff of the Kingsmill Sharks Swim Team. It is a great way to get the kids comfortable
in the water, become familiar with the coaching staff, and to interact with the
team!

Our hope is that after being in the Little
Sharks Program, the children will build confidence in the water, feel they are
part of the swim team, develop a passion for swimming, and be motivated to join
the swim team the following year! It
also acts as a great way to ensure our 6 and under age group will always be
strong in numbers!

Another added
benefit to the Little Sharks Program is that all “Little Sharks” are invited to
join all of the swim team’s social events which include Family Fun Night, Dive-In
Movie Night, and the Fourth of July Parade so that they can enjoy meeting new
friends while having fun and feeling a part of this incredible
neighborhood youth organization. Our
mission is for all swimmers to learn sportsmanship, team camaraderie, and
competitive swimming in a fun and healthy environment.

week (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, May 29-July 26). See website for times. $150
per child, 3X week for 10 Weeks! That’s

* Popsicles in the Park & Swimsuit Swap - Saturday, May 4th @ 3:00

Join us for Popsicles in the Park at Mounts Bay Playground where we can reconnect with swim team friends or learn more about the swim team during this open registration period with some delicious popsicles!

While enjoying popsicles, lets swap suits! If you have a Kingsmill swim team bathing suit that doesn't fit anymore, contact Holly Jeffers at [email protected] to arrange a bathing suit drop off two weeks prior to the Popsicle in the Park event to drop off your suit/suits you no longer want. Then the day of the event, if you donated a suit, you get to pick a donated suit for free! Give a suit, get a suit! Or if you didn't have a suit to donate, pick one up for a cheap price!  

We will also have our NEW 2024 Team Swim Suit and Team merchandise available for purchase at this event!

*Meet the Coaches Night & KM Bathing Suit Fitting/Merchandise Sale - May 17th @ 6:00pm Mounts Bay Rec Center

Meet the Coaches Night is a great way for swimmers and parents to meet the coaching staff of the Kingsmill Sharks!

The meeting will take place inside the Mounts Bay Rec Center from 6pm-7pm.

We will begin the meeting by going over general information for the 2024 swim season, navigate through the Kingsmill Shark's SwimTopia website, discuss upcoming social events, and answer any questions.

We will then have the opportunity to hear from our coaching staff about new programs such as the Little Sharks Swim Program and DQ clinics, as well as what to expect for the 2024 swim season.

At the end of the meeting, you will have the opportunity to try on bathing suit sizes for the new Kingsmill Sharks Swim suit and buy KM Shark logo apparel. 

Spring Swim Clinics Offered by the Year Round Swim Clubs:

Many Year Round Swim Clubs in Williamsburg offer spring swim clinics to help prep your swimmer for the summer swim season!  These clubs include Coast Guard Blue Dolphins, WAC, and 757 Swim.  Please visit their websites for more information regarding registration dates and clinics.

  Options for Summer Prep Programming this Spring!

Do you have friends in your
neighborhood who may be interested in preparing for the summer swim
season? Our Summer Prep program is designed to help “summer swim” athletes
prepare for their VPSU season. This program is NOT for current 757
swimmers. Encourage your friends to sign up soon, as this
program fills quickly. In order to participate, the swimmer must be able to
swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke. See attached flyer for more
information and please pass it along to your neighbors and summer swim friends.
REGISTRATION WILL OPEN ON THURSDAY, FEB 15.

  Summer Camp

757swim is thrilled to offer
summer camps for children ages 6-12 this summer. These camps are for swimmers
of all ability levels and will include in-water instruction as well as outdoor
fun. Please see the attached flyer for all the details. Registration will
open Feb 20. Space is limited, so tell your friends and neighbors now.
REGISTRATION WILL OPEN FEB 20.
