Post-Season Meet & Practice Information
Hello Shark Families! Our last regular season meet is at home on Monday 7/19 against Kingswood. As always, it will be a competitive meet and we look forward to our Sharks swimming fast.
There are two post-season meet opportunities and information about each is provided below. We strongly encourage all Sharks to attend one or both! If you have any questions about these meets, please do not hesitate letting us know by replying to this email. Note specifically that swimmers who have VPSU champs qualifying times who will not have swum in 3 regular season meets may submit a waiver to the league by 5 p.m. on 7/20. This waiver opportunity is unique to this year in light of the slightly shortened season (5 meets instead of the typical 6). If you think this may apply, please let us know by replying to this email. If you discover this applies after the 7/19 meet against Kingswood, please immediately contact me or Mary Beth.
Remaining Practice Schedule
- Note that if your swimmer is not participating in either post-season meet, his/her last swim practice will be on Monday 7/19.
- Swimmers who are attending the 7/24 Summer Awards Meet should attend practices the week of 7/19.
- Swimmers who are attending the 7/31 Champs Meet should attend practices the week of 7/19 and 7/26.
Summer Awards Meet
The Summer Awards meet is for swimmers who have not met qualifying times for the VPSU Championship Meet. It will be held on Saturday 7/24 at Queens Lake. Summer Awards is an awesome opportunity for swimmers to compete and have one final shot prior to the VPSU Champs meet. Even if your child is not close to achieving VPSU qualifying times, this is a fun meet, well worth the time and commitment, and a great way to end the season.
We have attached detailed meet information. You must RSVP to this meet on our website by noon on Tuesday 7/20.
VPSU Championship Meet
The VPSU Championship Meet is the final meet of the summer. It will be held on Saturday 7/31 at the WISC (757 Swim Aquatics Center). Each swimmer can swim up to three events in which they have qualified. This is a team-scored meet where all teams in the area participate. Kingsmill Sharks have had a lot of success at Champs in past years, so if you have qualified for this meet, you don’t want to miss the fun and excitement! As noted above, in addition to qualifying time(s), your swimmer must have swum in a minimum of 3 regular season meets to participate (Summer Awards Meet does not count). If your swimmer has qualifying times, but will not have met the three-meet requirement, please immediately reply to this email so we may consider submitting a waiver by the 7/20 5 p.m. deadline.
Thank you!
