Dear Swim Team Families,

I hope everyone is doing well and staying healthy. Usually at this time, an email regarding summer swim is sent out outlining the registration procedure, pertinent dates, and exciting events surrounding the upcoming season. While registration was scheduled to begin on May 5 and practices set to start on May 26, this will not happen. Presently, VPSU has not committed to supporting a season, but the good news is they haven’t given up hope! They have scheduled a meeting in May to re-evaluate the present health crisis and its effects on summer recreational activities. They are discussing various options that allow for a season while keeping the health and safety of the swimmers and community top priority. Our hope is the season is delayed, but the reality is our large swim meets do not allow for appropriate safety measures that include social distancing and a suitable crowd size. As a team, we’ve also explored the option of a practice season with intra-squad meets. At the end of the day, it’s a decision that will essentially be left up to our governor and health officials. We can only hope that our community continues to be responsible so we can enjoy the camaraderie of our awesome Sharks family soon!
